Nils is a Professor in the Department of Philosophy and Religious Studies at Coastal Carolina University. His scholarly interests are focused on Ancient Philosophy (especially Plato), but he is also interested in philosophical pedagogy. He served as president of the American Association of Philosophy Teachers (AAPT) and he is author of Ultimate Questions: Thinking about Philosophy (4th edition 2019) and editor of Readings on the Ultimate Questions (3rd edition 2009).

Rauhut has a MA in Philosophy from the University of Colorado in Boulder and a Ph.D. in philosophy from the University of Washington in Seattle.
