Hilary Claggett is Senior Acquisitions Editor of Global Business and the Global Economy, a new publishing program at Georgetown University Press that recognizes that global problems demand global solutions, and that the business sector is a prime player. She is particularly interested in the transformation of the global economy wrought by advances in artificial intelligence, automation and robotics (“future of work”); disruption of global supply chains; FinTech and digital currencies; diversity, equity, and inclusion; and climate change and sustainability. She also acquires interdisciplinary works of business history, economic history, financial history, and regional history of Washington, DC. Editing business, economics, and finance since 2013, she spent the previous decade acquiring in politics, international affairs, and security studies at Potomac Books (now an imprint of the University of Nebraska Press) and Praeger (now transitioning from ABC-CLIO to Bloomsbury). She is active in alumni affairs, serving as Treasurer of the Columbia University Club of Chicago since 2013 and judging student entrepreneurship contests since 2019, and in AUPresses, co-chairing the Financial Operations Committee in 2022-23. She earned an MA in International Affairs from Columbia University and a BA in Politics and Russian Studies from the University of California, Santa Cruz. An avid runner, she has completed 15 marathons in 10 states and 47 half marathons in 26 states plus Cuba.
