Hilary Claggett
Hilary Claggett is Senior Acquisitions Editor at Georgetown University Press, where she was hired in 2020 to launch and develop a new publishing program in global business, economics, and finance. The first book in the program was Jeanine Turner’s Being Present: Commanding Attention at Work (and at Home) by Managing Your Social Presence, which won an Axiom Award (Gold). Recent publications include The Future of Business Journalism: Why It Matters for Wall Street and Main Street, by Chris Roush; Speaking Out: The New Rules of Business Leadership Communication, by Matthew Kohut; Thinking Bigger: A Pitch-Deck Formula for Women Who Want to Change the World, by Sarah Dusek; and Build: Investing in America’s Infrastructure, by Sadek Wahba. She has inaugurated two series at the press: Georgetown Studies in Philanthropy, Nonprofits, and Nongovernmental Organizations; and Race, Power and Political Economy in partnership with the eponymous institute at the New School. She currently serves on the board of AUPresses as Treasurer-elect. She earned an MA in International Affairs from Columbia University with a Harriman Institute Specialization in National Security and Russian Studies, and a BA in Politics and Russian Studies (double major) from the University of California, Santa Cruz. In 2024 she earned a certificate in Social Impact Partnerships from Georgetown University’s School of Continuing Studies.
